- US4 min readIs ADHD a disability? Often, yes. Here's what that means.
Often, yes. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, ADHD is a disability when it substantially limits things like concentrating, thinking or working, judged as if you weren't on medication. That's a different question from Social Security disability benefits, which ADHD alone rarely gets an adult.
Read the guide - UK4 min readHow to use Right to Choose for an ADHD assessment in England
If you're registered with a GP in England, you have a legal right to choose which NHS-contracted provider does your ADHD assessment. You pick the provider, your GP makes the referral, and the NHS pays. It's often months rather than years.
Read the guide - UK4 min readPIP for ADHD: how it really works
Yes, you can get PIP with ADHD, but not for the diagnosis. DWP scores how ADHD affects 12 everyday activities, and about a third of all new claims were awarded in mid-2026, so specific examples and evidence matter most.
Read the guide - Canada4 min readThe Disability Tax Credit and ADHD: an honest guide
Yes, ADHD can qualify for the Disability Tax Credit, but only when it severely limits mental functions like attention, memory or emotional regulation nearly all the time, for at least a year, even with treatment. The diagnosis never qualifies on its own; the effects on daily life do.
Read the guide - Australia4 min readThe NDIS and ADHD: an honest guide
ADHD on its own is generally not enough for the NDIS. The scheme is for permanent impairments that substantially reduce your ability to do everyday activities even after treatment, and most people with ADHD don't need that level of disability-specific support. Other conditions alongside ADHD can change the answer.
